American Vintage 49 Star Flag. Printed stars and stripe sections. The size is approximately 23 inches x 34 inches. Very short use flag (only 1 year) 1959 to 1960. Flag is well used and worn with some aging, snags, and stains. Additional Notes: The American 49-star flag was flown from July of 1959 to July 1960 (1 year use). Alaska added as a state. The arrangement of the stars in seven rows of seven stars each, staggered horizontally and vertically. The 49-Star flag was official for only one year, until July 4, 1960, when Hawaii achieved its statehood, and the United States went to the 50-Star flag. A general guide in American Flag construction materials is that cotton flags were issued during WW2 and nylon flags were issued during the Korean War.
