United States Naval Aviator wings. Marker marked on back Amico 1/20 10k GonS. Pin back, missing center section of roller locking mechanism. Wings are approximately 2 3/4 inches across (full sized wings).  1940s-1950s (ww2-Korea) era. Worn condition.   ADDITIONAL NOTES: The Naval Aviator Wings, also known as the wings of gold, are awarded to officers who have completed the rigorous training required to become a pilot in the United States Navy, Marine Corps, or Coast Guard. This insignia signifies that the wearer is a qualified pilot of military aircraft and has successfully completed both primary and advanced flight training. U.S. Wings are most often found in 3 basic sizes. The 2 3/4 inch to 3-inch length wings are typically worn on Uniforms, Tunics, and Jackets and usually referenced as full-sized wings. The 2 inch wings were typically worn on shirts and the 1 inch wings were used on garrison or side caps.
