The access roads in the reserve are surrounded by secondary forest with tree growth of up to 50 metres high, this relatively low canopy with ample natural light makes birding and photography a delightful experience. Sightings of White-crowned Hornbill, Rhinoceros Hornbill and Wrinkled Hornbill is very likely at any time of visit. You may visit the Trogon Hall gallery to view more information on the conservation efforts in the reserve.12:00 – Lunch at Sunbird Cafe14:00 – Depart for birding along the Tomanggong Road to spot hornbills either flying in groups across the sky or in pairs perching on bare branches.19:00 – Dinner20:30 – Enjoy a slide presentation on Tabin’s natural wonders, followed by a Night Walk to look out for nocturnal wildlife and birds. Remember to look up at the clear, dark sky of Tabin.Day 2Join the early morning bird walk to discover some of Tabin’s rich collection of almost 300 bird species.07:00 – Breakfast09:00 – Trek up to the active Lipad mud volcano. The soccer field-sized Lipad Mud Volcano serves as mineral salt lick for wildlife. A 20 minutes trek takes you to one of the three areas of the mud volcano which is frequented by wildlife and birds. A nearby fig-tree is a busy feasting place for hornbills and other birds and primates during the fruiting season.
