United States Coast Guard (USCG) medal. Crimp broach marked on back LI-GI (for Lordship Industries – Government Inspected). Appears to be a fairly modern issue (most likely 1980s-1990s) medal. Worn condition. Additional Notes: The Coast Guard Medal is a prestigious U.S. military decoration awarded to members of the Coast Guard who display heroism not involving actual conflict with an enemy. Established in August of 1949 and first awarded in March of 1958. Awarded to any Coast Guard service member who performs a voluntary act of heroism involving great personal risk.
